What can you do to keep your hair looking great between salon visits?

A lot depends on the quality of the products you use. Choosing the highest grade of product has a huge impact on the results you get at home. You should also make sure that you aren’t using too much styling product. There has been a definite shift away from heavier products to lighter, more moisturising styling creams. The most common question my clients ask me are about what brands of shampoo and product they should choose, and I only recommend those products that I have used and can confidently recommend.

How often should you wash your hair?

There is a lot of debate around the right frequency when it comes to washing your hair. The skin releases toxins through our pores every day and the main areas of build-up are our scalp, nose and chin. I believe that most men should invest in a good quality shampoo and wash hair (and more importantly the scalp) daily. Depending on length, style and texture, you may also need to use a conditioner.

What is your top tip for men styling their hair at home?

Accepted Answer

Style clean hair only after its completely dry. If you try to style wet hair, the product won’t function or grip the hair in the right way and when it does dry, it will change shape. You should also use the right amount of product for your hair type – so don’t overload and weigh down thin hair with excessive product.

How often should you visit the salon for a haircut?

Accepted Answer

A good men’s hair cut should last around 4 or 5 weeks, so you should try and book a visit for around this time to keep it looking fresh.
